Psychotherapy involves a trained mental health professional (like a psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist) helping individuals understand and address their mental health challenges through conversations and therapeutic techniques. The primary goal is to improve mental well-being by helping individuals identify and change unhealthy patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving.

Psychotherapy can help individuals:
Relieve emotional distress, such as anxiety, fear, or depression.
Find solutions to problems in their lives, such as dealing with grief, family issues, or career dissatisfaction.
Modify ways of thinking and acting that are preventing them from working productively and enjoying personal relationships.

Types of Psychotherapy:
There are various types of psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and dialectical behaviorall therapy to name a few, each with its own approach and techniques.

Who benefits:
Psychotherapy can be beneficial for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions and emotional challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, complex-grief, ptsd, personality disorders, and relationship problems.

Psychotherapy vs. Counseling:
While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, "counseling" may refer to shorter-term therapy focused on specific issues, while "psychotherapy" can be a longer-term process focused on deeper exploration, treatment, and personal growth

They say our greatest weakness lies in giving up! We have all been there. I decided that if life was going to be difficult, I would become its greatest “warrior” and teach others to do the same. Too often we use our armour to hide our inner selves, rather than see it as our strength which only comes from taking a risk, facing our fears, taking a step forward, and learning that every battle is won with wisdom. I am here to empower you to take that chance on yourself — your mind is a powerful force, but you are its master.

Through various forms of therapy, one can explore different perspectives, coping skills, and motivators to establish better relationships; self-esteem and self-direction; deal with complicated family or couple dynamics; face a significant crisis or transition; manage substance use or addiction; and collaboratively make cognitive and behavioral changes to better emotional, mental, and even physical health!

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I achieved a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and an Honors Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. I have a distinct interest in trauma and grief therapy, group and couples therapy, and have over 20 years’ experience working with children and young adults with cognitive and/or behavioural issues. I also provide individual narrative therapy to facilitate your journey to self-awareness and emotional regulation; manage anxiety, depression, and stress; and learn to make healthier choices. I assess and treat mental and emotional disorders as well as behavioural problems. I am a firm believer that if there is a “way in” there is always a “way out”, regardless of how you got stuck in the first place!

I integrate various assessments and interventions including emotionally focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) mindfulness, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical-behaviour therapy (DBT), psychoanalytical or psychodynamic Therapy (both long-term and short-term support), and The Gottman Model for couples.

As an empath and a daughter of immigrants myself, I practice cross-cultural counselling and work through a compassionate and humanistic lens. I can deliver therapy in English and in Italian. I look forward to meeting you and providing you with a comfortable and supportive space where you do not feel alone.
